Gibson Fay-LeBlanc’s first collection of poems, Death of a Ventriloquist, was chosen by Lisa Russ Spaar for the 2011 Vassar Miller Prize and was published in early 2012 by University of North Texas Press. His poems have appeared in Guernica, The New Republic, and Poetry Northwest, among other magazines, and in the anthologies Satellite Convulsions: Poems from Tin House and From the Fishouse: An Anthology of Poems that Sing, Rhyme, Resound, Syncopate, Alliterate, and Just Plain Sound Great. He attended the College of the Holy Cross, University of California at Berkeley, and Columbia University and was awarded the Bellevue Literary Review’s annual poetry prize for 2006. He has taught writing at Columbia, Fordham, and the University of Southern Maine, and was for several years director of The Telling Room, a non-profit writing program in Portland, Maine. He currently serves as poet laureate of Portland, Maine, and edits the column “Deep Water: Maine Poems” for the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram.
