Maria Hummel was awarded the 2013 APR/Honickman First Book Prize for her manuscript House and Fire, selected by poet Fanny Howe. Maria is also the author of two novels, Wilderness Run (St. Martin’s), and Motherland (Counterpoint, 2014), as well as the chapbook City of the Moon (Harperprints). Her poetry, fiction, and nonfiction appear in Poetry, The Missouri Review, New England Review, The Sun, Creative Nonfiction, and Pushcart Prize XXXVI. She is a Jones Lecturer at Stanford, and lives in San Francisco with her husband and son.
