Tiffany Higgins is the author of And Aeneas Stares into her Helmet (Carolina Wren Press, 2009), selected by Evie Shockley as the winner of the 2008 Carolina Wren Press Poetry Prize. Her poems have appeared in The Kenyon Review, Big Bridge, nocturnes, dritto, Poetry, and other journals. In 2012, her poem, “You bear the scar at the base of your spine, where lies the shadow of the moon,” on biodiversity and species extinction, a text-graphics-animation collaboration with artist Michele Guieu, appeared as an art installation projected outdoors in downtown San Jose as part of the SubZERO Festival. In 2009,“Where is the War,” a short film of her poem of the same name, produced by Moisés Nascimento, was selected to screen at the Poetry & Film segment of the Split This Rock Festival. Her poem about Oakland, “Land of Dreams,” is part of the soundtrack of a short film on the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland by Moisés Nascimento. Her performance, “Mixtape: The Nearness of You,” combining species extinction statistics, Lady Gaga lyrics, and her poetry on the endangered Owl Butterfly, appeared in 2012 as part of SF’s Bangout Reading Series.
