Ira Sadoff is the author of eight collections of poetry, most recently True Faith (BOA Editions, 2012), Barter (University of Illinois Press, 2007), and Grazing (University of Illinois Press, 1998). He has published a novel, Uncoupling (Houghton Mifflin, 1982), and a collection of poems, stories and essays: The Ira Sadoff Reader. A book of literary criticism, History Matters: Contemporary Poetry on the Margins of American Culture, was published by the University of Iowa Press in 2009. Sadoff’s work is widely anthologized in The Harper American Literature, Great American Prose Poems, Best Poems of 2002, The New Bread Loaf Anthology of Poetry, and St. Martin’s Introduction to Literature, among others. He has received many grants and awards, including from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
