Mary Noonan

Biography

Mary Noonan is an Irish poet and academic. She lives in Cork, and is a lecturer in French literature at University College Cork. Her poems have been published in The SHOp, The Stinging Fly, The Dark Horse, Wasafiri, Tears in the Fence, Cyphers, Southword, The Stony Thursday Book, The Cork Literary Review, Penned: Zoo Poems(2009), The Alhambra Poetry Calendar (2010), Best Irish Poetry 2010, The Captain’s Tower: Seventy Poems for Bob Dylan at Seventy, The Echo Room (2012), and in the on-line magazines Blackbox Manifold (Issue 6) andBigCityLit (Spring 2011). Her poetry was featured in the Winter 2006/07 issue of The Stinging Fly and in the ‘Irish’ issue of Wasafiri (June 2010). In 2007, she was selected to take part in the Poetry Ireland Introductions series of readings in Dublin. In November 2009 she was invited to read at the Poetry Hearings festival in Berlin. She was awarded the Listowel Poetry Collection Prize in June 2010. Her first collection, The Fado House, was published by Dedalus Press in spring 2012.
